There are those who give much lip-service to honoring future generations. They attend Little League or soccer games; support the Cub Scouts and Brownies; contribute to the YMCA/YWCA; and participate in school events. Yet, many of them think that policies designed to protect Mother Earth for our sake and those of our descendants are nothing more than “Commie claptrap.”

I can’t think of any mother or father who wants bad things to happen to their child, nor can any self-respecting, life-loving parent wish ill on another parent who wants to protect his/her children.

And yet, here we are, with Border Patrol agents, buttressed by the military, kidnapping children and separating them from their parents, who came here in a desperate move to avoid the death and destruction we created in the narco-mafia states in Central America.

It would be a sobering and life-altering change if the families of people in the South and the Mid-west, ostensibly Trump supporters, would be forced to endure for one week what our Central American neighbors have been living through for the last 30–35 years. Then our intolerance might very well subside….
