The Los Angeles Monorail

An Alternative Transportation Plan

Having been born, raised and educated in Los Angeles, and having fought traffic here for decades, I have considered the need for major changes in how people get around in the “City of Angels.” This is my proposal.

What is your cause?

Monorail project: San Fernando Valley to Long Beach

What is your motivation?

Protect the environment, reduce traffic, increase worker productivity, reduce traffic accidents, increase quality of life, reduce traffic-related stress, reduce vehicle-related insurance claims and litigation, create union jobs.

What is your vision for change?

Create a two-way monorail system with two Start-End Nodes: on the 405 Freeway at its intersection with the 118 Freeway, and southbound on the 405 Freeway to its intersection with the 710 Freeway. There would be stops at each freeway onramp and/or offramp, and there would be DASH vehicles to take commuters to/from work on the street.

There would be no rights-of-way acquisitions; the costs can be spread over multiple years; the technology is robust and well tried in many parts of the world; and the net gain to society would be huge.
