Why Artificial Intelligence Needs to Rule Us
In late September, the 27th to be exact, of 2169, Neil Hedberg triggered the creation of Ranallo XX. By attaching the last quantum board to “Ranny’s” mother board and turning on the power supply, the Artificial Super Intelligence project was complete. Moore’s Law had long ago reached the end of conventional computing power as circuits were literally down to 1 nano wide, and the laws of physics were immutable at the level.
Quantum computing became significantly practical in December 2099. An ionic q-computer was built to 4,294,967,296 qubits. It absorbed the entire Library of Congress in eight minutes; and all other e-libraries on Earth in another 29 minutes, 14 seconds. GoogleAxis’s data farm was composed of slightly more than 3 X 1028 petabytes of data, and the ionic q-computer was able to scan that in less than two hours.
In 2130, Wilson Chang and his colleagues formed the Artificial Super Intelligence Foundation. ASIF was given substantial funding by virtually all of the world’s governments after the environmental disasters of 2112 and 2124. During 2125’s emergency conference in Stockholm, it was decided that mankind’s intractable stubbornness was rapidly increasing the pace of the 6th Mass Extinction, and mankind itself was likely to perish unless external forces were put into place to monitor its behaviors.
