My definition of Democracy: The harmonization of interests for the sake of the interests being harmonized.

Unfortunately, too few of us understand the essence of group music, so we don't grasp the concept of orchestral (or societal) give-and-take, the balancing of parts, tonality, rhythm/metre, volume, and duration. The flow of human interaction has to be predicated on mutual respect and dignified treatment of everyone, but the psychosis in our society has led to rewarding those who least deserve it, and punishing those who most need opportunities.

Injustice arises when people do not get what they deserve--and that has been the fundamental problem of societies since we first left the caves and purportedly began to experience "civilized lives." The reality is that we still operate on the basis of the Reptilian Brain, instead of the limbic system and the neocortex; hence, the "Us versus Them" battles, the xenophobia, the homophobia, the racism, the misogyny, and religious bigotry.

When we overcome our flawed use of our brains, we may have a chance of avoiding the Sixth Mass Extinction and building a world of which we can truly be proud....but until then, good luck!
