I recently published The 'Plenty' Book: the Answer to the Question "What Can I do to Make This a Better World?" (Amazon/Kindle) It answers your question in great detail.

Fundamental changes come from within. When we are tired of the killing, the divisions, the useless hatreds and fears, then, perhaps, we will work together to solve problems that we recognize are common to all of us: solving the Global Climate Catastrophe; public campaign financing; housing, health, education, infrastructure, shifting from a hydrocarbon-based to an alternative-energy based economy; mass job retraining; reducing our military budget by at least 75%-80%; changing our role in the world to stop straddling the Americas and Eurasia like a vast, imperialistic Colossus; and making major changes in our legal system.

These are structural changes that are necessary to avoid the evils of predatory capitalism---but I repeat myself---and ensure that everyone has a place at the table.

When we do that, perhaps we will have a country of which we can FINALLY be proud.
