Great wisdom in this story. It's sad--so, so sad--that we have been miseducated and brainwashed into discounting the bone-deep truths of these allegories. The American Indians---Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota; the Cheyenne; the Cherokee, Cree, Chickasaw, Seminoles; Ojibway; Black Foot; and the Iroquois, among many others---learned many thousands of years ago how to live in balance and harmony with the land, how to cherish and protect Mother Earth so that She could protect us.

Instead, we have to extract oil, coal, natural gas, and other minerals from the ground, destroying Mother Earth in the process.

And so, we are in the midst of the Sixth Mass Extinction, what I call "species suicide" of homo sapiens sapiens (and millions of other species around the world).

Will we survive? Maybe, maybe not.

Should we survive? That's a topic for another, much longer discussion.....
