America's apartheid system has been in effect since 1619. Like the Republic of South Africa, we need to institute and fully commit to the workings of a "Truth and Reconciliation Commission." The demography of the U.S. is inexorably changing, and the racists who trot out the Confederate battle flag think that they can prevent the so-called "browning of America" by demonstrating their love for an era of brutality. It's clearly a fault of the education system, as well as the broader cultural traditions, which perpetrate these appalling notions.
