A New Day Has Dawned
the Need for an American Truth and Reconciliation Commission, post-Trump
There are several key dates coming to a calendar near you:
- November 3, 2020: Election Day
- December 8, 2020: Secretaries of State certify election results
- December 14, 2020: Electors vote to elect the President
- January 3, 2021: the new Congress is sworn in
- January 6, 2021: the new Congress counts the Electoral Votes and declares a winner
- January 20, 2021: Inauguration Day
We have been living in a period of such prolonged chaos for the last four+ years that we desperately need relief, simplicity, and normalcy. We’ve suffered the ravages of a president, Donald J. Trump, who literally cannot function within a range of expected behavior, values, and means of communication. Laws, schmaws, who needs ’em?
He has attracted a foundation of followers, his so-called base, which has supported him through thick and thin, no matter what he says or does. This Base consists of about 30–35% of America’s people. Some of his Base are exactly what you’d expect:
